The initial sponsors of the satellite mallard tracking program are Commissioners for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (pictured above). The first duck named in the program is "Marsha", named in honor of Mississippi's First Lady, Marsha Barbour (below right). Numerous agency and USFWS refuge personnel were involved in trapping and releasing the mallards. MDWFP Executive Director, Sam Polles, Ph.D., and Wildlife Bureau Director, Larry Castle, are shown holding two mallards captured on Mahannah WMA (below left).
