2009 - 2010 Quail Hunting Season By
The 2009-2010 Quail Hunting Season is November 26, 2009 to March 10, 2010. Daily Bag Limit: 8 quail.
Updated June 2009.

Throughout most of Mississippi, weather conditions during summer 2008 were generally very favorable to quail population production. By early summer 2009, rainfall has been very abundant in parts of Mississippi and very scarce in others. Early reports of brood sightings have been received from South Mississippi, which is encouraging. Heavy rainfall and flooding may have disrupted early season breeding in some areas. However, the good news is that birds may keep nesting into September and bring off broods as late as October. Peak hatch is typically in mid-July.
Habitat improvements continue to be implemented on several public lands around the state, but it will take some time for hunters to see the results of these efforts. The MDWFP continues to provide quail habitat management advice to private landowners.
Quail numbers are still relatively low in most areas of Mississippi. Thus, quail hunters are encouraged to harvest conservatively, especially on areas that receive heavy hunting pressure.
