2013 Turkey Draw Hunts

Turkey Hunts:

• There are 14 available 3-day hunts. (Friday - Sunday or Monday - Wednesday)
• • March 15 - May 1
• Hunters will be selected through a random computer drawing.
• 1 hunter will be selected for each 3-day hunt.
• Thursdays will be Scouting days. No hunting allowed.
• Limited draw hunt system open to Mississippi residents ages 16 years of age or older.
• There will be a non-refundable $5 application fee.
• Legal weapons for turkey hunting include archery equipment and shotguns with #2 shot or smaller.
• Hunters apply as individuals. 
• Each drawn hunter will be able to bring 1 hunting guest (2 persons per hunting party). 
• Youth hunters may be brought as the hunting guest.
• Only hunters who are drawn must purchase an additional $300 permit for a 3-day hunt.
• Hunting permits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
• Applications will be accepted from January 18 - February 15
• Hunters must provide a valid e-mail address when applying and will be notified by e-mail if drawn

       Bag Limits:

• 1 adult gobbler per hunting party.

Youth Turkey Hunts:

• 6 youth hunters will be selected for the 2-day hunt March 9 - 10.
• Hunters will be selected through a random computer drawing.
• Drawn hunters will be randomly assigned to one Hunt Unit.
• Limited draw hunt system open to Mississippi residents fifteen (15) years of age or younger.
• There will be a non-refundable $5 application fee.
• Each youth hunter must be in the presence and under the direct supervision of a licensed or exempt hunter at least twenty-one (21) years of age when hunting. 
• A licensed hunter supervising a child must hold a valid Mississippi license and a WMA User Permit.
• Hunters who are drawn must purchase an additional $200 permit for the 2-day hunt.
• Hunting permits are non-refundabale and non-transferable.
• Applications will be accepted from January 18 - February 15
• Hunters must provide a valid e-mail address when applying and will be notified by e-mail if drawn

       Bag Limits:

• 1 gobbler per youth hunter.

Timeline for Turkey Hunt Applications:

• Applications will be available beginning at 8:00 am Friday, January 18 - February 15 at midnight.
• $5 application fee for all applications.
• Drawing will take place February 18.
• Permits go on sale at 8:00 am February 19 at mdwfp.com.  Permits will be $300 for the 3-day turkey hunts and $200 for the 2-day youth hunts.
• Drawn hunters must make payment by Tuesday, February 26 at 8:00am.
• If full payment is not made by February 26 at 8:00am, hunters will forfeit their permit.
• A second drawing will be held on February 26 to fill unpurchased permits. 
• Hunters selected during the second drawing will be notified by email.
• Hunters selected during the second drawing must make payment by Tuesday, March 5 at 8:00am.
• Any permit not purchased by March 5 will be forfeited.  No permits will be sold after March 5.
