State Fishing Lakes

MDWFP operates 20 prime fishing lakes throughout the state which offer outstanding fishing on over 4,000 acres of picturesque waters.

State Park Lakes

In 1989, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Conservation was reorganized to include the State Park System and the agency became the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.

Public Waters Program

Mississippi is fortunate to have abundant fishing opportunities. With 119 public lakes, 123,000 stream miles and 225,000 freshwater acres, finding a place to go fishing is not hard.

Effective July 1, 1997 any person born after June 30, 1980 must complete a Boating Safety Course to operate a boat.
