Fishing & Boating

Lake Monroe
Lake Monroe is currently closed.  Lake Monroe will host a youth fishing day on Saturday, June 3, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Fishing will be open to youth 15 years and under.  All youth must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21 years old.  Lake Monroe will open to the general public on Wednesday, June 7, at 6 a.m.

Lengths to Release:
Black bass: 14 to 22 inches
Crappie:  no length limit
Catfish:  no length limit
Walleye:  all lengths

Creel Limit (per person, per day):
Black bass: 10, with 1 bass over 22 inches
Crappie:  20
Catfish: 10
Walleye:  0

Statewide creel limits apply to all other fish species.

Lake Monroe is currently closed for repairs and renovations

Only rod and reel or pole fishing is allowed on State Fishing Lakes except that carp, gar, buffalo, and bowfin may be taken by use of bow and arrow at night only after purchasing a valid permit for fishing and/or boating. No other gear is allowed at these lakes.

Fishing is not allowed from courtesy piers adjacent to boat ramps. Night fishing is allowed from the bank or boats which are in compliance with state and coast guard regulations.
