Poll Question:
How often do you use a WMA for hunting?

That one is hard for me to answer FW653. I have hunted Delta National twice in my life. I mostly try to get a draw hunt at Mahannah, but have never been drawn. I have gone as a guest with those who do get drawn. I have hunted one time at Panther Swamp and one time at Shipland. I guess I will vote as they are too crowded because thats the only reason I try for a draw at Mahannah.

I hunt them because I have very little or no access to private land during hunting season.

| This season (2004-2005) is the least I've hunted the closest WMA to my home. I made at least 40 hunts in 2003-2004 season, and at least that many in years past. |

| These WMA's are great and for the most part it is first come first serve. I been in clubs and typically people start getting very possesive of certain stands, food plots, ect. |

I hunt in the Homochitta during turkey season due to the large amounts of open hardwood stretches. My lease cleared out all of the hardwoods and planted pines. This ran out all of the turkeys.
Maybe you shouldn't have taken the first shot if you had to shoot mone than once. Make that first one count. |

WMA are good if kept in context but too many are starting to be managed with too many variables that shouldnt be included. for example,WMA managers with their own agenda, food plots planted when its convenient; seasons and harvest types/amounts set for ease of managing officials and/or data collection instead of based on populations; IE... why does John Starr(Oktibbiha co.) stop its deer season(this year it opened it to archery only, with little or no area supervision which is why it was opened to only archery i'm sure) on Jan 1.?? for ease of area managers/wardens? what about the public, who the WMA are used by and maintained for(yes i know they are for the conservation of wildlife also) Why do WMA like Sunflower in the delta have such a short antlerless season when the area has so many does, when the best ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 buck to doe? area managers i would love to see a Poll on here asking if the public thinks the WMA are being managed for public usage and WL conservation

| I've always been kinda leery of them. You never know who's hunting or where their at. It just seems to be kinda dangerous...........Hey that's me I think the wma's are great and have no problem with my tax dollars supporting them. |

| Like someone has already mentioned, I don't have access to much private land. I appreciate the WMA's and hunt them regularly. |

| The WMA's are a great resource for hunters that do not have rights to private land. For those who think the WMA's are too crowded, you're right on the weekends. Try to hunt them during the week and you'll see plenty of deer. |

I HAVE NO ACC.TO PRIVATE LAND DURING HUNTING SEASON, BEEN HUNTING PUBLIC LAND FOR ABOUT 20 25 YRS
It's not about the number of ducks you kill,It's about the life time of memories you make with friends and family |

I've spent a lot of time at several WMA's this year. Have only been to a couple before this year. I've always heard they were too crowded to hunt. Haven't had that problem.
WMA's are a great resource.
