I really enjoy the WMA's, I could join a lease, but I don't like all the politic's involved with leases. I really enjoy scouting new places, I have been hunting the same WMA's for years and still find new area's to hunt every year, to me that is part of the fun.
I voted more than ten times a year, but did not last year. I will be this year and for the next few years. There is too much good free land availabe to pay high club dues. You just have to walk and do you homework. I have also hunt NWR's a lot and will be this year.
I used Trimcane for duck hunting this past season. I didn't get drawn for a hunt, but I never once got turned away out of the 10+ times I hunted it. If I didn't get drawn, there were always people willing to let me hop in their group. I ended up meeting other hunters that led to further hunting at other locations with those guys.
WMA's are great. Hopefully, I'll get to Howard Miller this year.
