Well my partner finally got one this morning. It was his first bird and he deserves all of it. I addicted him to the sport last year and he had a few opprotunities then. We have hunted these birds since opening morning, but heard them since february. It is a private section of land about 26 acres, but surrounded by a big piece of propety. The birds would roost on the property line where a gravel road seperates. It is a unusual setup but these birds have never been hunted. It is first time this property has been hunted ever. Somehow they eluded us until this morning. When you figure out there traveling routes and how many ladies are with them then you can learn them. The weird thing is we tried to film them so many times and everytime i brought the camera they never said a peep. As soon as i could not go they gobble. It has been like it since the opening day. Their are 3 birds we know of and one is a monster(big rope). Today he was where they have been roosted all other times and one gobbled about 100 yards from the normal roost. Well it wasn't much of a hunt since he was in between the gobbler and his lady. He flew down and strutted for 10 minutes and it was over at 6:47. He flew down early. My buddy was by himself this morning so no footage was possible. The bird weighed 18lbs. 9 ounces and had 1 inch spurs, 9 1/2 inch beard. 2 others out their and hopefully we can get the monster. <>< Ryan
