State Parks Careers


Careers in this field are dedicated to providing safe, family-oriented outdoor recreational and educational experiences to Mississippi's residents and visitors to our beautiful state parks. In this field, a person may find career opportunities in park management, construction, skilled crafts, maintenance, park security, food service, historical interpretation and housekeeping. Seasonal general service job opportunities are available, primarily through the parks system. Anyone seeking these positions should apply directly to the park where employment is sought.

  • Facilities Maint Supt - (Hancock County)

    This is supervisory and administrative work in coordination and direction of supervisory facility maintenance personnel. Duties include development of comprehensive budget recommendations on assigned departmental operations, coordination and review of directed supervisory work projects, and implementation of new policies and procedures for maximization of labor and materials. Incumbents should have a comprehensive working knowledge of the work that their subordinates perform. Supervision is received from an administrative superior, and is exercised over lower-level subordinate personnel.

    Experience/Educational Requirements:

    Education:
    Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED or High School Equivalency Diploma).

    AND

    Experience:
    Seven (7) years of experience related to the above described duties, one (1) of which must have been as a Facilities Maintenance Manager or the equivalent in at least one of the following fields: plumbing, carpentry, electrical works, electronics, plastering, painting, air conditioning/refrigeration, heating equipment, or general maintenance and repair.
