Alligator hunting in Mississippi is a new hunting opportunity. Alligator hunting in Mississippi is limited to specific areas of the state and hunters must apply for permits to participate. All permittees are randomly drawn by computer. Selected applicants must attend a mandatory alligator hunting training course provided by the MDWFP. There is a $5 non-refundable fee to apply for permits.
The first alligator hunting season in Mississippi was initiated in September 2005. In 2006, the MDWFP expanded hunting opportunities by increasing the number of available permits within the permitted hunting area.
