Eagle Lake receives Florida-strain Largemouth Bass
JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) stocked 120,000 Florida-strain largemouth bass fingerlings into Eagle Lake on May 15. The bass were reared at MDWFP's Turcotte Fish Hatchery near Canton. Eagle Lake is a 4,700-acre oxbow lake in Warren County that is widely known for excellent bass, crappie, and bream fishing.
"Our stocking program at Eagle Lake has been very successful over the years." said MDWFP Fisheries Biologist Jerry Brown. Brown added that stocking Florida-strain largemouth bass is part of Eagle Lake's management plan.
