McAlpine Lake in Amory Joins MDWFP Community Assistance Program

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Fisheries Bureau has accepted the City of Amory's McAlpine Lake for participation in the MDWFP Community Assistance Program.  McAlpine Lake is a 2.5 acre pond located on 10th Avenue North.

The goal of the MDWFP Community Assistance Program is to increase fishing opportunities in urban settings, especially for young anglers, by assisting local communities with the development and management of their lakes and ponds. The MDWFP will stock fish and provide technical assistance regarding fish harvest regulations and aquatic plant control to program participants.

McAlpine Lake will be open to youth age 15 and under on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  Anglers are limited to one pole and can harvest up to 10 bream, two catfish, and one largemouth bass per day.

Those seeking additional information may call Rory Thornton with the Amory Parks and Recreation Department at (662) 256-3221 or the MDWFP Fisheries Bureau at (601) 432-2200.
