MDWFP and MSU to Host Pond Management Workshop in Tate County
JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Fisheries Bureau and the Mississippi State University Extension Service is hosting a lake and pond management workshop in Tate County. The workshop will be held at the Tate County Extension Office at #1 French's Alley in Senatobia on Thursday, June 5 at 7 p.m. An hour-long presentation will include topics on pond design, fish stocking, harvest, vegetation control, liming, and fertilization. A question-and-answer period will follow. Those interested in attending the workshop are asked to register by calling the Tate County Extension Office at (662) 562-4274.
"This workshop will allow biologists and private lake and pond owners the opportunity to discuss management techniques to improve fish populations and habitat," according to Keith Meals, MDWFP Fisheries Biologist. "This is a great way for us to provide how-to information that can help pond owners achieve their goals."
