MDWFP to Host Pond Management Workshop in Jones County
JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is hosting a pond management workshop in Sandersville at the Sandersville Community Center on Thursday, May 9 at 6:00 p.m. "This workshop will allow biologists and private pond owners the opportunity to discuss management options to improve fish populations and habitat," according to MDWFP fisheries biologist Jeremy McCain. "We talk to people each year that want to manage their ponds effectively and this is a great way for us to provide how-to information that can help pond owners achieve their goals."
Topics that will be covered include pond construction, fish stocking, vegetation control, fertilization, fish harvest, and more. A question-and-answer period will also allow pond owners to receive advice on specific problems they are experiencing. For more information, call Danny Evans at the Lake Bogue Homa office at (601) 425-2148 or Stephen Brown at Paul B. Johnson State Park at (601) 582-7721.
