MDWFP to Host Pond Management Workshop in Lauderdale County

JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is hosting a pond management workshop in Lauderdale County. The workshop will be held at the East Mississippi Electric Power Association Office located at 2128 Highway 39 North in Meridian on Thursday, May 16, at 6:00 p.m.  An hour-long presentation will include topics on pond construction, fish stocking, vegetation control, fertilization, fish harvest, and more.  A question-and-answer period will follow. Those interested in attending the workshop are asked to register by calling the MDWFP regional office at (601) 859-3421.

"This workshop will allow biologists and private pond owners the opportunity to discuss management options to improve fish populations and habitat," according to MDWFP fisheries biologist Larry Bull. "We talk to people each year that want to manage their ponds effectively and this is a great way for us to provide how-to information that can help pond owners achieve their goals."
