Tornado Damage Cleanup Continues at Elvis Presley Lake

JACKSON - Elvis Presley Lake, located in Tupelo, remains closed following the April 28 tornado that damaged lake grounds and facilities.  Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) has been coordinating with Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assess damages on lake property.  "Most of the downed timber has been removed, but additional work is needed to repair damaged facilities," said Larry Pugh, Fisheries Bureau Director.  "We will reopen Elvis Presley Lake to public use activities as soon as repairs have been completed and the area is safe for our visitors."
