Museum to Host 11th Annual “Fossil Road Show”
Pack up your fossils and hit the road! The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks' Museum of Natural Science invites you to bring your fossil discoveries to the 11th Annual Fossil Road Show on Saturday, March 1 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. "Our team of scientists will provide their expert opinions about the ages and identities of your fossils," says Museum Paleontology Curator, George Phillips.
Visitors to the event can explore the Museum's fossil collection, collector displays, and institutional exhibitor booths. In addition, visitors can participate in hands-on fossil activities, "fossil digs", and a scavenger hunt. Phillips will also discuss the "Fossil History of Mississippi" taking visitors on a journey through our state's paleontological past and highlighting the Museum's fossil exhibit - including recent exhibit updates! So go through your "rock boxes" and challenge our staff with your prehistoric oddities. Who knows what might turn up this year?
