Bike Your Park

JACKSON—Explore Mississippi State Parks by bicycle on Bike Your Park Day, September 24. Bring friends and family and join in the organized rides celebrating our state parks in conjunction with National Public Lands Day. You will be joining thousands of others who will explore parks and public lands by bicycle on the same day.

MDWFP to Host Pond Management Workshop at Hugh White State Park

JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Fisheries Bureau is hosting a pond management workshop in Grenada County at Hugh White State Park on Saturday, September 24 at 2 p.m. An hour-long presentation will include topics on pond design, fish stocking, harvest, vegetation control, liming, and fertilization. A question-and-answer period will follow. Those interested in attending the workshop are asked to register by calling the park at (662) 226-4934.

Repairs Planned for Trace State Park Lake

JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is making needed repairs to the water level control structure and dam at Trace State Park. MDWFP personnel will install an inflatable plug in the outflow pipe that will allow divers to replace the damaged stem on the water control structure. “We expect stem repair to take place within the next two to three weeks,” says MDWFP State Parks Director Jennifer Head. “Although the boat ramp is closed, bank fishing, paddling, and camping activities remain open to visitors during this time.”

Trace State Park Lake Boat Ramp Closed

JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) has lowered the lake level and closed the boat ramp at Trace State Park Lake. The lake level was lowered to allow MDWFP personnel to make improvements and repairs at the lake. Bank fishing, paddling, and camping activities will remain open to visitors during this time.

John W. Kyle State Park to Host "Kids to Parks" Day Activities

JACKSON – John W. Kyle State Park, in Sardis, invites you to enjoy a day of play at the park with your family on May 21 as part of "Kids to Parks" Day. Join thousands of children, families, teachers, cities, towns, and parks in this nationwide celebration of outdoor play. Kids to Parks Day is organized by the National Park Trust, an organization encouraging children across the country to explore their neighborhood parks and discover science, history, nature, and adventure right around the corner or just across town.

MDWFP Percy Quin Lake (Tangipahoa) Opening Day Announced

MDWFP Percy Quin Lake (Tangipahoa) Opening Day Announced JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) will host a youth fishing day at Lake Tangipahoa on Saturday, September 17, from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. Fishing will be open to youth 15 years and under. All youth must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21 years old and has a valid Mississippi fishing license. Lake Tangipahoa will open to the general public on Wednesday, September 21 at 6 a.m.
