Road Improvements Completed on Old River WMA
JACKSON - Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) personnel recently completed improvements to roads on Old River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) this summer. Old River WMA roads are often damaged due to regular winter and spring flooding of the Pearl River. These roads provide management access as well as public access for hunting, fishing, and other recreational activities.
Visitors should be aware that sometimes roads on the WMA may be closed during natural flooding to protect visitors and to prevent further damage from vehicles. After flooding subsides, roads may also remain closed until necessary repairs are made to ensure they are safe for public use. All visitors are encouraged to review current regulations for more information about the WMA and information about road closures and flooding.
