MDWFP to Host Pond Management Workshop in Yazoo County
JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Fisheries Bureau is hosting a pond management workshop in Yazoo County on April 4 at 6 p.m. The workshop will be held at the MSU Extension Service office on the third floor of the old Chamber of Commerce building located downtown between Bank Plus and the Health Department. The physical address for the office is 212 East Broadway St.
An hour-long presentation will include topics on pond design, fish stocking, harvest, vegetation control, liming, and fertilizing. A question-and-answer period will follow. Those interested in attending the workshop are asked to register by calling the Yazoo County Extension office at (662) 746-2453.
"This workshop will allow biologists and private pond owners the opportunity to discuss management options to improve fish populations and habitat," said MDWFP fisheries biologist Ryan Jones. "This is a great way for us to provide how-to information that can help pond owners achieve their goals."
