Access Improved at Charles Ray Nix and Tuscumbia WMAs
JACKSON - During September 2013, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) improved management and hunter access on Charles Ray Nix and Tuscumbia Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs). Work included stabilizing 11 low-water crossings, installing/repairing 11 culverts, improving approximately six miles of WMA roads, and creating two new parking areas. The improvements will restore management access to remote parts of each WMA, enhance access for WMA visitors, and aid in erosion control.
The MDWFP recognizes the importance of access for managing wildlife habitat, protecting wildlife resources, and providing for public use on WMAs. The improvements made will ensure that each of these important objectives is met by providing reliable, safe, and efficient access.
