New Freshwater Commercial Fishing Regulation Proposed

TUPELO – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Fisheries Bureau announced a proposed rule change to allow the use of slat baskets by licensed commercial fishermen in Pools A through E of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.  Slat baskets are round or square boxes made of wood or plastic used to catch catfish.

Anyone wishing to comment on the proposed rule change may do so in writing to the Executive Director, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, 1505 Eastover Dr., Jackson, MS 39211, no later than September 16, 2017.
