Operation Dry Water Enforcement Statistics

Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Conservation Officers have concluded the 2019 Operation Dry Water Weekend. The enforcement period began Thursday, July 4 and concluded Sunday, July 7 at midnight.
Throughout this period, MS Conservation Officers issued:
- 386 total citations
- 35 of these were alcohol and drug-related
- 11 Boating under the Influence (BUI) citations
The mission of Operation Dry Water is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities through increased recreational boater awareness and by fostering a stronger and more visible deterrent to alcohol use on the water.
All available Conservation Officers were utilized during the holiday weekend conducting saturation patrols and safety checkpoints. Officers conducted approximately 2,000 safety checks on vessels operating on Mississippi’s public waters.
“Our goal is to provide the safest environment possible along Mississippi’s public waterways. This year was no different. Operation Dry Water was a success” states Colonel Steve Adcock.
Overall, statewide boating activity experienced a safe weekend.
