Some of the best views of Mississippi’s sunsets, foliage, and waterways are best appreciated on a recreational trail. Mississippi’s trails carry you through the hills, straightaways, valleys, small towns, cities, quiet country roads, and just about any terrain you can imagine in the Southeastern United States. Trace State Park offers a variety of trails suited for mountain biking, horseback riding, ORVs (off-road vehicle), and hiking. With so many trails throughout this park, you are sure to find one that fits your needs.

The Jason M. Stewart Memorial-Hiking Trail is 1.5 miles and offers a unique landscape of upland pine, hardwoods, and wetlands forest. This short trail makes for an excellent morning or afternoon hike.

Trace State Park also offers a 30-mile multi-use trail where you can bring your horse, bike, or ORV for riding. The park does not rent ORVs or horses, but Trails and Trends located in Tupelo does rent bicycles. They can be reached at 662-690-6620.

On the other side of the park, you will find three trails just for mountain bikes. The Moroney trail is 6.5 miles, the Baker trail is 3 miles, and the Nester trail is 4.5 miles. Each of these trails has a natural surface that is designed for mountain biking but is also suitable for hiking and trail running as well.

Mississippi’s trails offer something for everyone and every skill level.  Get off the beaten path and explore Mississippi’s outdoors!
