VEC to Host Choctaw Indian Program

ENID - Allen Winters, a professional artist, engraver, and traditional Choctaw Indian flute maker, will present a program at the Visitor Education Center (VEC) on Saturday, September 29 at 2 p.m. Winters, the fourth great-grandson of Choctaw Chief Mushulatubi, will discuss the Choctaw Indian culture and demonstrate his flutes. Winters has worked in the Choctaw Cultural Preservation Program, and he is a pottery teacher for Choctaw Tribal Schools. Program attendees will be able to engage in a question and answer session with Winters at the end of the program.
The program is free with the price of admission. Admission is $2.50 for adults ages 18-59, and $2.00 for youth ages 3-17 and adults over the age of 60. For additional information, call the VEC at (662) 563-8068.
The VEC is part of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks North Mississippi Fish Hatchery and is located at Exit 233 east off I-55. Follow detour signs once exiting off the interstate.
