JACKSON – Nucor Steel in Flowood, Mississippi is sponsoring a volunteer day at Roosevelt State Park Saturday, March 3, 2018. This corporation is committed to being a good cultural and environmental steward in the community by successfully working together with other groups for positive outcomes. “We are so thankful to be partnering with Nucor Steel on this project. Their commitment to the environment is evident through their employees’ willingness to donate time and labor to this beautiful park”, stated Jennifer Head, Director of Mississippi State Parks. Community involvement and corporate support is so important for our State Parks as we work together to keep the parks “Always in Season”.

Roosevelt State Park is one of our premier parks offering 109 RV campsites, 15 cabins, a motel on site, waterslide and pool, and the only park that offers an auditorium with state-of-the-art seating for 600.

There will be 70-85 volunteers from Nucor Steel, the MDWFP administrative office and Roosevelt State Park employees participating in various projects such as clean up around park facilities, repairing bridges and piers, painting at the playground, and nature trail clean up. The event will start at 9:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM.
