"Conservation of Coastal Waterbirds and Coastal Habitats: Long and Short-term Insights from Louisiana"

SPEAKER: Will Selman, Ph.D, Assistant Professor of Biology, Millsaps College

Louisiana is the epicenter for bird diversity in the United States with over 470 bird species documented in the state, and the driver of diversity is the numerous habitat types near the Gulf Coast.

However, many of these habitats are vanishing through natural or human-induced impacts.

Dr. Selman will take you on a tour of these coastal habitats highlighting several focal species for conservation and will discuss the prospect for short and long term bird conservation in coastal Louisiana.

The lecture will be based on 10 years of bird research and conservation conducted in Louisiana by Dr. Selman and his collaborators.

Included with museum admission: $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for youth 3-18. Under 3 FREE. Museum Members are Free.
