From live animal programs with Freedom Ranch Outreach Education to fish feedings by divers in our aquariums, "NatureFEST!" offers something for everyone. Families and young budding scientists won't want to miss live reptile programs with Terry Vandeventer, “The Snake Man” of Mississippi”, citizen scientist explorations through the on-site Bio-Blitz, and behind-the-scenes tours with our scientists.
Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the museum’s native plant garden, play nature games and outdoor bowling, picnic with food from Crunchtime Concessions, Pizza Shack, and Bruster’s Ice Cream (not included with admission), and take a self-directed hike on our beautiful springtime trails.
Everyone will be fascinated by Todd Smith Magic!
See museum founder, Fannye Cook, in the form of living history interpreter and scientist, Cathy Shropshire, in a specially adapted field tent from Upcountry Camp on the museum’s front lawn. Meet and talk with Fannye about her life and research that led to the establishment of Mississippi’s Game and Fish Commission (now known as the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks) and the museum.
Painted Faces by Emily Schmidt will be here, too (Designs start at $6 payable to Painted Faces, not included with admission)!
$6 for adults, $4 for youth ages 3 and up. Ages under 3 are FREE. Museum Members are FREE.
