WELCOME TO 2020 SUMMER CAMP AT THE MUSEUM

Registration opens March 1, 2020

 

SUMMER CAMP OVERVIEW:

Remember those wonderful childhood summer days spent exploring the outdoors? This summer, your children can experience similar adventures at our camps. Campers will enjoy outdoor fun and hands-on learning opportunities, led by experienced conservation educators. Spaces are limited to keep the camp as interactive as possible, while providing a quality experience that blends science, nature, and summer fun.

HOW TO REGISTER:

1. Please read the info on each age-appropriate camp below and click the link to register for that camp. 

2. A confirmation email will be sent to you after registering.

3. Then, you will be contacted 2 weeks before your child’s camp by the camp leader with details to help you prepare your happy camper for a great experience. 

SUMMER CAMP SESSIONS

PRESCHOOL CAMP Session 1: Click here to register.

Go Outdoors .... Preschool Camp! (Pre K, ages 3-4) is a partial day camp designed just for inquisitive and active minds! Each day we will be on the museum grounds hiking, exploring, meeting live animals, and creating fun crafts. In a guided and creative setting, children discover how exciting and fun the great outdoors can be! CAMPERS MUST BE FULLY POTTY TRAINED.

  • June 1- June 4, 2020
  • 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. *Late pickup will result in Late fees of $10.00 per 10 minutes*
  • $100 for MS Museum of Natural Science Foundation Members
  • $120 for non-members
  • Early drop off at 8:30 a.m.
  • The museum will provide a snack. If you want to send an additional snack with your child, pack NUT FREE SNACKS (i.e. NO PEANUT BUTTER, ALMONDS, TRAIL MIX WITH NUTS, NUTELLA, OR ITEMS MADE IN A FACTORY THAT PROCESSES NUTS.) Campers should bring a reusable water bottle daily.

MY GROWN UP AND ME CAMP: (CAREGIVER MUST BE PRESENT WITH CAMPER): Registration opens on JUNE 1.

Do you have a preschooler who needs you nearby? Try the "My Grown Up and Me Camp". This camp is designed for ages preK age 3-5 and their caregivers. Camp is from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. every Monday in July and offers hands-on natural science experiences and adventures. Through crafts, exploration, and animal encounters we try to encourage an understanding and appreciation for the natural world. This camp is FREE with museum admission and is FREE for MS Museum of Natural Science Foundation Members - but, registration is required.

Go Outdoors .... Camp! (Entering 5K) is a partial day camp designed just for inquisitive and active minds! Each day will include outdoor explorations, an encounter with a live animal, a craft activity, a story, and a camp song. In a guided and creative setting, children discover how exciting and fun the great outdoors can be!

  • May 26-29, 2020
  • 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. *Late pickup will result in Late fees of $10.00 per 10 minutes*
  • $140 for MS Museum of Natural Science Foundation Members
  • $160 for non-members
  • Early drop off at 7:30 a.m. 
  • Campers will need to bring a nut-free lunch to camp (i.e. NO PEANUT BUTTER, ALMONDS, TRAIL MIX WITH NUTS, NUTELLA, OR ITEMS MADE IN A FACTORY THAT PROCESSES NUTS). While snacks are not provided, campers will still have time to eat any brought with them as long as they are nut free. Campers should bring a reusable water bottle daily.

Due to popular demand, we are adding a second week of Go Outdoors .... Camp! for entering 5K. This is the same camp as the first session, just offered later in the summer. This is a partial day camp designed for inquisitive and active minds! Each day will include outdoor explorations, an encounter with a live animal, a craft activity, a story, and a camp song. In a guided and creative setting, children discover how exciting and fun the great outdoors can be!

  • June 22 - June 25, 2020
  • 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. *Late pickup will result in Late fees of $10.00 per 10 minutes*
  • $140 for MS Museum of Natural Science Foundation Members
  • $160 for non-members
  • Early drop off at 7:30 a.m. 
  • Campers will need to bring a nut free lunch to camp. (i.e. NO PEANUT BUTTER, ALMONDS, TRAIL MIX WITH NUTS, NUTELLA, OR ITEMS MADE IN A FACTORY THAT PROCESSES NUTS).  While snacks are not provided, campers will still have time to eat any brought with them as long as they are nut free. Campers should bring a reusable water bottle daily.

ENTERING 1st - 2nd GRADE CAMP: Click here to register.

Go Outdoors ... Camp! (Entering 1st-2nd) is a partial day camp designed to support 1st-2nd Grade inquisitive minds and active nature! We will explore the outdoors, hike trails, and encounter live native animals. Join us for fun songs, crafts, and activities!

  • May 26 – 29, 2020
  • 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. *Late pickup will result in Late fees of $10.00 per 10 minutes*
  • $140 for MS Museum of Natural Science Foundation Members
  • $160 for non-members
  • Early drop off at 7:30 am 
  • Campers will need to bring a nut-free lunch to camp (i.e. NO PEANUT BUTTER, ALMONDS, TRAIL MIX WITH NUTS, NUTELLA, OR ITEMS MADE IN A FACTORY THAT PROCESSES NUTS). While snacks are not provided, campers will still have time to eat any brought with them as long as they are nut free. Campers should bring a reusable water bottle daily.

ENTERING 3rd - 4th GRADE CAMP: Click here to register.

Go Outdoors ... Camp! (Entering 3rd-4th) engages young campers in a variety of outdoor nature activities including hiking, wetland exploration, arts and crafts, and outdoor skills (example: archery). Compare habitats and learn about the plants and animal living in them, net aquatic species, and track woodland animals!

  • June 8-11, 2020
  • 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. *Late pickup will result in Late fees of $10.00 per 10 minutes*
  • $150 for MS Museum of Natural Science Foundation Members
  • $175 for non-members
  • Early drop off at 7:30 am 
  • Campers will need to bring a nut-free lunch to camp (i.e. NO PEANUT BUTTER, ALMONDS, TRAIL MIX WITH NUTS, NUTELLA, OR ITEMS MADE IN A FACTORY THAT PROCESSES NUTS). While snacks are not provided, campers will still have time to eat any brought with them as long as they are nut free. Campers should bring a reusable water bottle daily.

ENTERING 5th - 6th GRADE CAMP: Click here to register.

Go Outdoors ... Camp! (Entering 5th-6th) engages young campers in a variety of outdoor nature activities including hiking, wetland exploration, arts and crafts, and survival skills to name a few. Compare habitats and the plants and animals living in them. We will practice outdoor skills, learn about Mississippi wildlife, and have a daily encounter with a native animal on Monday-Wednesday. Camp is from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Thursday, camp begins at 8 a.m. and campers will have an overnight. Campers need to be picked up on Friday at 9 a.m.

  • June 15-19, 2020
  • 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. *Late pickup will result in Late fees of $10.00 per 10 minutes*
  • $150 for MS Museum of Natural Science Foundation Members
  • $175 for non-members
  • Early drop off at 7:30 am 
  • Campers will need to bring a nut-free lunch to camp (i.e. NO PEANUT BUTTER, ALMONDS, TRAIL MIX WITH NUTS, NUTELLA, OR ITEMS MADE IN A FACTORY THAT PROCESSES NUTS). While snacks are not provided, campers will still have time to eat any brought with them as long as they are nut free. Campers should bring a reusable water bottle daily.

JUNIOR NATURALIST CAMP (ENTERING Grades 7, 8, 9): Click here to register.

Jr. Naturalist Camp (Entering Grades 7,8,9) is an ecology-based camp that focuses on the identification, collection, and conservation of our native species. On Monday-Wednesday, camp is from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. On Thursday, camp begins at 8 .a.m and campers will have an overnight. Campers need to be picked up on Friday at 10 a.m.

  • June 1-5, 2020
  • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. *Late pickup will result in Late fees of $10.00 per 10 minutes*
  • $150 for MS Museum of Natural Science Foundation Members
  • $175 for non-members
  • Early drop off at 7:30 am 
  • Campers will need to bring a nut-free lunch to camp (i.e. NO PEANUT BUTTER, ALMONDS, TRAIL MIX WITH NUTS, NUTELLA, OR ITEMS MADE IN A FACTORY THAT PROCESSES NUTS). While snacks are not provided, campers will still have time to eat any brought with them as long as they are nut free. Campers should bring a reusable water bottle daily.

FIELD CAMP (ENTERING Grades 10, 11, 12): Click here to register.

Field Camp (Entering Grades 10, 11, 12) Field Camp is an ecology-based camp that focuses on the identification, collection, and conservation of our native species for students entering Grades 10-12. On Monday-Thursday, camp is from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. with at least one overnight. Limited Space available for this camp!

  • June 22-25, 2020
  • 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. *Late pickup will result in Late fees of $10.00 per 10 minutes*
  • $225 for MS Museum of Natural Science Foundation Members
  • $250.00 for non-members
  • Early drop off at 7:30 a.m. 
  • Campers will need to bring a nut-free lunch to camp (i.e. NO PEANUT BUTTER, ALMONDS, TRAIL MIX WITH NUTS, NUTELLA, OR ITEMS MADE IN A FACTORY THAT PROCESSES NUTS). While snacks are not provided, campers will still have time to eat any brought with them as long as they are nut free. Campers should bring a reusable water bottle daily.
