Educators have many opportunities at the Visitor Education Center (VEC). Educational groups have taken advantage of the guided tours, programs, hands-on activities, contests, and workshops provided by the VEC.

Guided Tours

For teachers planning a field trip, the facility offers activities and tours for all ages and abilities. The EDUCATORS' PLANNING PACKET is a resource for educators, providing a detailed description of tours and programs. This information packet also answers a list of "Teachers' Frequently Asked Questions" and provides a look into Enid Lake's recreational opportunities.

Teacher Workshops

At the Visitor Education Center, educators of all grade levels and subject areas have participated in teacher workshops and obtained CEUs. For upcoming workshops see the CALENDAR page or email

Emily-Jo.Wiggins@wfp.ms.gov.

Youth Art Contests

The NMFH VEC hosts Youth Art Contests through the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Foundation (MWFPF). From clay sculptures to oil paintings, young artists in four different age categories create illustrations of native Mississippi species. The winners in each category receive a certificate, and their work is proudly displayed at the Education Center and in the Mississippi Outdoors magazine.
