What is the status of the rebuilding of Buccaneer?

Buccaneer State Park re-opened in May 2010 with over 300 campsites and support facilities.  The park is now in its final stage of re-building.  Under construction today is Buccaneer Bay Waterpark, which includes wave pool, waterslides, kiddie pool, splash pool, campstore, activities building, activities pool, laundry facilities, day use picnic area and pavilion.  The construction began in December of 2011 and will take a little over a year to complete.



How can I make a Reservation?

1.)  Call 1-800-GO-PARKS
2.)  Online at www.mdwfp.com or www.mississippistateparks.reserveamerica.com
3.)  Call the Park Office of the specific MS State Park

Reservations are not required but are highly recommended especially during the peak season (May 15 through September 15).  They may be made via the internet 365 days out of the year through the Reserve America call center 12 hours a day (excep on Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years) or by calling the park office between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM (except on Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years).  Reservations may be made up to 24 months in advance.

Upon checking in, the guest will be required to provide a credit card or driver's license number or both for reservation purposes.  This information will be recorded on all receipts.



What is required to reserve a cabin or campsite and is there a minimum stay requirement?

CABIN: 
50% of the total amount it due when making a reservation. Payment shall be made in full upon arrival. Payment may be in the form of Cash, Check, Visa, MasterCard, Traveler's Check, or Money Order.  One must be 21 years or older to reserve a cabin.

Minimum length of stay from May 15th through September 15th is 3 nights on the weekends, holidays and special events and no minimum during the week (weekend is a Friday and Saturday night stay).

Minimum length of stay from September 16th through May 14th is 3 nights on the holidays and special events, 2 nights on the weekends and no minimum during the week.  (Weekend is a Friday and Saturday night stay.)

CAMPSITE:
The full amount is due when making a reservation.  Payment may be in the form of Cash, Check, Visa, MasterCard, Traveler's Check, or Money Order.  One must be 21 years or older to reserve a campsite.

Minimum length of stay from May 15th through September 15th is a 2 nights on the weekends, 3 nights for special events and holidays and no minimum during the week.  (Weekend is a Friday and a Saturday night stay.)

From September 16th through May 14th there is no minimum length of stay except for 3 nights on holidays and special events.

What time is Check-in and Checkout for cabins and campsites?

CABINS:
Check-in - 3:00 PM
Checkout - 11:00 AM

CAMPGROUND:
Check-in - 4:00 PM
Checkout - 2:00 PM



If one needs to arrive after 5:00 PM, how would I check-in to a cabin or campsite?

Please contact the specific Park's office before 5:00 PM to make arrangements for late arrivals for cabins and/or campground reservations.



Is a MS Fishing License required to fish at all MS State Parks?

Yes, a MS Fishing Licenses is required to fish anywhere in MS.  Licenses may be purchased at any MS State Park or Purchase Licenses Online.



Is the fishing and boating fee included in the cabin and/or camping fees?

- The fishing and boating fees are included in the cabin and regular campground fees.

- Fishing and boating fees are NOT included in the primitive camping areas.  The guests must pay a daily fishing or boating fee.

What is the Annual Entrance Pass and what is included with the purchase of the pass?

The Annual Entrance Pass is ONLY for the entry of one vehicle into ANY MS State Park or MS State Lake for one year.  The pass will expire from one year from the date of purchase.  Click on the link to see the fee for an Annual Entrance Pass.  For more information, you can contact any MS State Park.
