2015-2025 Mississippi STATE WILDLIFE ACTION PLAN - (SWAP)
Each state fish and wildlife agency in the U.S., the territories and Puerto Rico has been charged by Congress with updating its State Wildlife Action Plan (formerly called the Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy or CWCS) for their state or territory in 2015. The development of the original State Wildlife Action Plans in 2005 was a major milestone in fish and wildlife conservation. It marked the first time each state developed a plan that identified species and habitats in greatest conservation need, key threats and conservation actions needed to prevent endangered species listings and spur recovery. This plan is a requirement for states to receive federal funding through the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants (SWG) Program.
