Rabbit Hunting Season
2012-2013 Rabbit Hunting
Season:
October 13, 2012 to February 28, 2013.
Daily Bag Limit:
- 8 rabbits (regardless of species).
2012-2013 Season Outlook:
Rabbit populations are difficult to predict, but are generally good in areas with suitable habitat. Anecdotal observations from some areas suggest rabbit numbers may be up. Areas with an ample mixture of native grasses, legumes and other broadleaf plants, and low brushy cover typically produce the greatest numbers of rabbits. Some parts of the state experienced hot, dry conditions in early-summer, which may have limited some early-season production. However, given the long reproductive season and high reproductive potential of rabbits, populations can increase rapidly provided habitat is suitable. Rabbit populations should be mostly abundant in areas of suitable habitat.
