From MDWFP
In late June of 2019, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) began to issue supplemental nutrition permits to landowners along the mainline Mississippi River Levee. In the Eagle Lake region, where a majority of affected deer have been concentrated, our agency took on the role of establishing feeders in the area. MDWFP has placed a total of nine feeders in this region and has stocked them with more than 30,000 pounds of feed in roughly a month’s time. The agency will continue to supplement nutrition for deer that are stressed and have been congregated by the floodwaters.
