JACKSON –The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) has lowered the water level in English Lake located at Holmes County State Park Lake near Durant. The lake level will be held approximately five feet below normal pool until repairs to the spillway are completed. The boat ramp will remain open during this time; however, boaters are encouraged to use caution when launching and loading their boats due to shallow water conditions.
Holmes County State Park Lake is located seven miles south of Durant and offers two lakes for fishing, English Lake (45-acres) and Odum Lake (14-acres). The water level at Odum Lake will remain at normal pool during this time.
