NatureFEST 2023 is a festival, a nature outing, and a fascinating museum trip all wrapped into one exciting day!
From live animal encounters to fish feedings by divers in our giant aquariums, NatureFEST! offers something for everyone including new activities and some iconic favorites.
Families and young budding scientists won't want to miss live demonstrations of Mississippi reptiles, citizen scientist explorations, and behind-the-scenes tours with our scientists.
This event is included with museum admission or MMNS Foundation Membership.

PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
- The Hattiesburg Zoo's Ed-zoo-cation team is bringing a variety of animal species for a program on their care, conservation, and importance to our world.
- Freedom Ranch Wildlife Center is bringing the newest members of their education team, LIVE birds of prey
- Foam Party (12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. on front lawn): Why bubbles during NatureFEST? Because bubbles are part of nature. Fish make bubbles, insects make bubbles, and now our Foam-ologist will create a playspace of bubbles with his amazing foam cannon (a.k.a. The FOAM-ZOOKA). It’s refreshing, allergy-free, nature-friendly, and Suds of Fun! Towels, swim attire and/or change of clothes recommended.
- Visit Blue, our resident Utahraptor, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. near The Sound aquarium!
- Inflatable Obstacle Course
- Guided Nature Hikes
- Behind-the-Scenes Tours in Research and Aquariums
- Visits with Conservation Educators and MDWFP Fisheries staff
- Explore the science of how things move by air, sea, and land at the "From Here to There" exhibit
- FOOD TRUCKS (not included with admission): Squeeze the Lime, Inez’ Heavenly Treats, Spotter's Snack Shack Concession Stand
