Enid Lake
The Enid Project encompasses over 44,000 acres of both wetlands and forests. Created for Flood Risk Management, Enid Dam was finished in 1952. Today, Enid Lake is recognized as one of the top fishing spots in the country. The World Record White Crappie was caught at Enid Lake in 1957, and the record still stands.
The North Mississippi Fish Hatchery Visitor Education Center is located on 58 acres leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Hatchery relies on Enid Lake for its water supply, along with water from two ground water wells.
Enid Lake also offers many recreational opportunities for school groups, scout troops, and families visiting the Hatchery and Education Center. Recreational opportunities include numerous picnic areas, campgrounds, fitness areas, playgrounds, and nature trails.
