Guided Tours
For teachers planning a field trip, the facility offers activities and tours for all ages and abilities. The Educator's Resource Packet is a resource for educators, providing a detailed description of tours and programs. This information packet also answers a list of "Teachers' Frequently Asked Questions" and provides a look into Enid Lake's recreational opportunities. See our "Downloadable Resources" section for activities to create a "blended" learning experience.
The hatchery and education center are located adjacent to Enid Lake, a USACE Reservoir. Educators can enjoy hiking trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, and other recreational areas after a tour.
Teacher Workshops
At the Visitor Education Center, educators of all grade levels and subject areas have participated in teacher workshops and obtained CEUs. For upcoming workshops see the events page or email Emily-Jo.Wiggins@wfp.ms.gov for more information on these and other events.
Youth Art Contests
The BTFH VEC hosts Youth Art Contests through the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, Parks, Marine Foundation (MWFPMF). From clay sculptures to oil paintings, young artists in four different age categories create illustrations of native Mississippi species. The winners in each category receive a certificate, and their work is proudly displayed at the Education Center and in the Mississippi Outdoors magazine.
