ACTIVITIES:
Live Animal Program: Learn how animals interpret the world using their various senses at the amazing Freedom Ranch Wildlife Center's LIVE animal program and help us celebrate 20 years of NatureFEST! Freedom Ranch is a traveling conservation education team that educates, inspires, and empowers people to care for and enjoy wildlife. Come to NatureFEST 2020 to see these extraordinary educators and their animal ambassadors and get up close to nature in the museum's Rotwein Theater.
Live Reptile Program: Terry Vandeventer, the ‘Snake Man of Mississippi’ will lead informative and engaging LIVE reptile programs - check back here for scheduled times.
Behind-the-Scenes Tours: Did you know that our museum is also a research facility? Go on a behind-the-scenes tour with the museum’s research scientists and aquarium staff. See the museum’s research collections and lab spaces where important conservation work happens. Check back here for tour times.
Bio-Blitz: Join the Mississippi Extension Service and museum scientists for a Bio-Blitz! These abbreviated, but important, guided species inventory hikes introduce guests to citizen science using Lefleur’s Bluff State Park. Check back here for the schedule.
Living History: Visit with Fannye Cook, in the form of living history interpreter and scientist, Cathy Shropshire, in a specially adapted field tent from Upcountry Camp on the museum’s front lawn. Meet and talk with Fannye about her life and research that led to the establishment of the Mississippi Game and Fish Commission (now the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks) and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.
Magic Show: Illusionist Todd Smith will return to NatureFEST to bring awe, wonder, and fun suitable for the whole family.
Outdoor Play: Play outside with your friends and family. Whether you want to look for fossils in the Red Hot Fossil Pile, play with the giant Earth ball, or make the biggest bubbles on the planet, there’s something for every outdoor enthusiast at NatureFEST.

Check back here for details as they develop.

Note: NatureFEST is happening rain or shine, but the schedule and activities are subject to change, depending on the weather. Most outdoor activities can be moved indoors, if needed.
