Pack up your fossils and hit the road!
This event is included with museum admission or MMNS Foundation Membership.
Bring your fossil discoveries to get expert opinions about their ages and identities from our team of scientists. So, go through your "rock boxes" and challenge our staff with your prehistoric oddities.
In addition to the Museum's fossil collection, there will be displays from collectors and exhibitors, hands-on activities, and a scavenger hunt.
At 11:30 a.m., catch keynote speaker Cameron Muskelly's (pictured below) presentation, “Georgia Through Time: Clues of the Past Left Behind in the Rocks of the Peach State”. When you think of the state of Georgia, you probably don't think of fossils. However, Georgia has a rich fossil record that goes back half a billion years. In this talk, we will explore some of the bygone worlds found in the rocks of this southeastern state. Cameron is a science communicator and an avocational paleontologist studying fossils from the Appalachian Basin.
