Imagine a night under the stars with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra (MSO)!
Tickets required.
See the event video.
“Moonlight, Music, and Meteors” will be held on April 17, 2026 from 7:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. at “The Den” in beautiful LeFleur’s Bluff State Park.
A special part of this year’s event is the America 250 half of the musical program, honoring the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence through celebratory music reflecting on our history through a Mississippi lens.
The selections highlight the spirit of service, resilience, and community that have shaped both our state and our nation. Curated by MSO's musical coordinator, the program brings together meaningful works that honor Mississippi’s contributions to the American story while inviting reflection on the shared ideals that connect us all.
The second half of the music program is astronomy-themed, featuring everything from music actually inspired by the stars to popular pieces with a "space" feel!

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
Visit with area physicists, astronomers, and NASA Solar System Ambassadors during the Lyrid meteor shower!
Several University of Mississippi PhD students will showcase their work and will bring telescopes for you to use.
Biology professor and avid astro-photographer, Dr. Jean Francois-Gout of Mississippi State University, is returning this year with some of his astrophotography equipment - excellent night-sky viewing. Dr. Francois-Gout made national news last year when he discovered an asteroid!
