Fishing Report

SpeciesDetail
BassThe hot weather has slowed angling traffic significantly lately, and there are few reports on any species. Bass fishing has been slow; minnows, soft plastics, rattletraps, spinnerbaits, and shakeyhead worms are all good options, but your best bet may be topwater lures fished early in the morning and late in the evening.  Try targeting the creek channel and laydowns on the deeper banks adjacent to the channel.  Be on the lookout for schools of shad breaking the surface; bass have schooled up and are chasing shad out in the middle of the lake.  Try throwing flukes, walking baits, or other shad-imitating lures to draw a strike.
Crappie The crappie bite is slow. Look for crappie to be suspended in deeper water; also be on the lookout for schools of shad.  Jigs or jig/minnow combinations will be the best bait choices, but small crankbaits can also draw a strike from lethargic fish looking for an easy meal.
BreamBream fishing has been slow recently, particularly for bank anglers.  Boat anglers have been having better luck in general.  Tight lining with worms or crickets are both good baits, particularly when the bream are not bedding.
Catfish No reports on catfish. Target the creek channel and around the deeper points with night crawlers, cut shad, and/or liver. Tight lining is the most popular technique for catfish.
