Fishing Report
Species | Detail |
---|---|
Bass | The bite should pick up somewhat as we move into fall, but for now, look for bass chasing shad and bream in the shallows. Any shad-imitating lure should get you a strike. Topwater walkers and poppers, swimbaits, or soft jerkbaits are all good options. |
Crappie | Anglers have been catching crappie pretty regularly lately, particularly when the water temps dip below 70, which should be more permanent with the cooler weather. Jigs or jig/minnow combinations will be the best bait choices, but small crankbaits can also draw a strike from lethargic fish looking for an easy meal. |
Bream | Bream fishing has been slow to fair. Tight lining with worms or crickets are both good baits, particularly when the bream are not bedding. Throwing beetle spins or fly-fishing with poppers are also good options. |
Catfish | No reports on catfish. Target the creek channel and around the deeper points with night crawlers, cut shad, and/or liver. Tight lining is the most popular technique for catfish. |
