Fishing Report

BassWater temperature was recorded to be 69°F with a visibility of 48”. The bass bite has been fair this past week, with the rain slowing down the bite. Bass should be found around transitional areas and points or still in the shallows. Jerkbaits, whacky-rigged soft plastics and Texas-rigged lizards are good choices.
BreamThe bream bite has gotten better this past week with anglers catching more good sized fish. Target bream on their beds in the shallows as their spawn should be starting. Red worms and crickets are the best baits to use right now.
CatfishNo catfish were reported to be caught this past week, but can still be found around tree tops. Catfish bites are usually slow around this time, but tight lining with worms around piers is a good technique.
CrappieThe crappie bite was slow this past week, but some good sized fish have been caught. Anglers have had success using jigs and minnows around offshore cover. Trolling small tube jigs and crankbaits are typically used to catch crappie around this time, but vertical fishing with small hair jigs around deep cover may be a good alternative.

Reminder: All Walleye caught must be released immediately.

Fish Attractors

In January of 2022, MDWFP personnel sank donated Christmas trees in Lake Monroe. The brush piles are a good way to upcycle leftover Christmas trees and create fishing hot spots.
