*Bay Springs Lake is part of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway and is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE). The MDWFP Fisheries Bureau manages the lake's fisheries resources and provides weekly fishing reports.

Covering approximately 6,700 acres and 8 miles in length, Bay Springs Lake is the northern most impoundment along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.  Bay Springs is connected to Pickwick Lake on the Tennessee River through the Divide Cut and Yellow Creek.  As a result, water levels on Bay Springs are controlled by Tennessee Valley Authority’s operations at Pickwick Dam.

SpeciesDetail
BassThe bass bite has been fair to good recently.  Texas/Carolina-rigged worms, shakeyheads, and jigs have been effective.  Also look for schools of shad out in the main lake in deeper water.  Spoons and Alabama rigs, or any shad-imitating lures are working well.
CatfishCatfish anglers have had success around the canal north of Crow's Neck. Cut/whole shad has been the most effective bait, but night crawlers and chicken liver may also produce some bites.
CrappieThe crappie bite has been fair this past week with anglers catching the most fish around Five Fingers and up towards Crow's Neck.  Most anglers have been using jigs and small grub lures, but live minnows should also be productive. Look for brushtops in the creek channel and around drop-offs to be holding fish.
