Fishing Report

BassNothing new to add to the fishing reports lately; the bass bite has remained fairly slow, but fish are still being caught, mostly on the smaller side.    Traffic has been very slow on the lake; there just haven't been many people fishing.  Some anglers are fishing out in the middle of the lake and relying on forward-facing sonar to find fish.  For those without that option, covering as much water as possible until you find the fish is going to be the best bet. Jigs, shakeyheads, chatterbaits, and Texas- or Carolina-rigged worms fished around structure have been effective.
BreamThe bream bite has been slow to fair.  With the clarity of the water, fishing out deeper than normal has been a necessity.  Tightlining worms on the bottom is a great option and has been working as well as anything lately.
CatfishThe catfish bite has been slow. Try tightlining with Kool-Aid flavored chicken liver, earthworms, or stinkbait.
CrappieA few crappie have been caught recently, although there haven't been many crappie anglers on the water. Jigs and minnows around cover are probably your best options.

Reminder: All Walleye caught must be released immediately.

Fish Attractors

In January of 2022, MDWFP personnel sank donated Christmas trees in Lake Monroe. The brush piles are a good way to upcycle leftover Christmas trees and create fishing hot spots.
