JACKSON, MS – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is coordinating with local authorities in Jasper County following reports of Rhesus Macaques on the loose. MDWFP Conservation Officers remain on site and are actively coordinating with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department as part of the ongoing investigation.
Rhesus Macaques are known to be aggressive, the public is advised to avoid any contact and should not attempt to approach them.
Residents are asked to report any credible sightings to 1-800-BE-SMART.
