MS Museum of Natural Science Announces Museum Merriment Events

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks’ (MDWFP) Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (MMNS) invites visitors of all ages this holiday season to enjoy a festive lineup of “Museum Merriment” events - from turkey encounters to snowfalls and Santa diving to feed the fish. “Our Museum Merriment events bring nature to life for our visitors as they make joyful memories with family and friends,” says Angel Rohnke, Museum Director. While our facility is undergoing renovations, visitors will still have full access to the Museum’s exhibits and events will not be affected.

November 8 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.): “Learning Gouache with Ellen Langford” - This workshop for adults and older teens requires pre-registration and will be held inside the museum and en plein air.

November 9 (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.): “Daisy Girl Scouts: Math in Nature Workshop” - Discover numbers, shapes, and patterns found in the natural world. Open to Scouts and the public. Pre-registration is required.

November 25 (10 a.m. to Noon): “Let’s Talk Turkey” - See live turkeys, learn how to talk turkey, create a turkey craft, and play turkey games. Included with admission or MMNS Foundation Membership.

December 2 - 23 (Tues. and Fri. at 10 a.m., and Sun. at 2 p.m.): “Santa Feeds the Fish” - Watch Santa scuba dive in the aquariums. Included with admission or MMNS Foundation Membership.

December 5 (9 a.m. to Noon): “S.T.E.M. with Snowflakes” - Enjoy hands-on, interactive games, experiments, crafts, and stories. Included with admission or MMNS Foundation Membership.

December 13 (6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.): “Snow Much Fun”- Play in snowfalls, create winter woodland crafts, conduct winter S.T.E.M. experiments, see Santa scuba dive to feed the fish, and have a “snowball fight” in a snow maze! Special ticket required.
