Fishing Report
Bass | Not much has changed in the fishing reports. Hot summer temps are here, and lake traffic, as well as the bite, has slowed down; even the shad schooling has subsided lately. Still, keep an eye out for shad breaking the surface during the day; flukes, walking baits, and other shad-imitating lures are working well for those fish. The best time to catch fish seems to be right at daylight or at dusk. Anglers are throwing topwater lures such as frogs, walking baits and buzzbaits. Some creativity on the part of the anglers is going to be required to get a bite. Weightless/wacky rigged senkos, and slow-moving Texas-rigged soft plastics are good options as well. |
Crappie | Using FFS or other electronics is going to give anglers the best shot at finding fish. Try targeting cover along drop-offs and along the creek channel with minnows, jigs, or small crankbaits. |
Bream | The bream bite is still slow. Tightlining with worms has been producing the biggest fish. Some quality redear are being caught along the earthen piers on worms. Crickets under a cork are always a good bet as well, but don't overlook small spinners, jigs, or your favorite fly-fishing setup. |
Catfish | The catfish are biting off and on; tight lining liver and/or worms off the wooden and earthen piers is productive. Stink bait, Kool-aid flavored hotdogs, and cut bait are also good options when trying to get catfish to bite. |
Reminder: All Walleye caught must be released immediately.
