Fishing Report
Bass
| The water temperature dipped this past week to around 70°F. The bass bite took a hit from the temperature drop, but can still be considered fair. Some bass have been seen on the beds, but it has only been a few spotted. Anglers have been having the best bite in the morning and in the evening with topwater lures being the most effective. During the day, the bite slows down with anglers using Carolina/Texas rigs, shakeyheads, and flukes just out of traditional bedding areas. On windy and stormy days, spinnerbaits and chatter baits are a good choice. |
| Bream | The cooler weather has slowed down the bream bite despite the spawning conditions. Some redear and bluegill have been caught, but not at the rate quality as last week. The bite should pick back up when the weather gets warmer again. Red worms are the best bait to use right now, but crickets over beds should also be productive. |
| Catfish | Anglers have not been targeting catfish recently, and none have been caught by other anglers. Target catfish along primary drop offs and the pond using tight-lined worms and liver. The Lake Lamar Bruce Fishing Rodeo is coming up on May 9th. |
| Crappie | Anglers have not been targeting crappie and none have been accidently caught by bass anglers. Minnows and jigs around submerged structure should be productive. See the coordinates below for the location of fish attractors. |
Reminder: All Walleye caught must be released immediately.
