Fishing Report
Species | Detail |
---|---|
Bass | The summer heat is here, and the bite for most species has slowed somewhat. The bass bite has been fair. Try fishing creek channels with slow moving rigs, or topwater lures early in the morning and late in the evening. Bass are schooled up and chasing shad, so watch for schools of shad breaking the surface along the dam or out in the middle of the lake during the day. Flukes and other shad-imitating lures should be effective. |
Crappie | No recent reports on crappie. Trolling jigs and crankbaits are good techniques to find the fish that are in deeper water, particularly for anglers without forward-facing sonar. Minnows and jigs are always good options around structure; see the coordinates for fish attractors below. |
Bream | Bream fishing is fair. Most anglers are tightlining worms on the bottom, unless the Bluegill are bedding, then crickets under a cork in bedding areas are the hot ticket. Boat anglers have also been doing well fishing along the dam. |
Catfish | The catfish bite is fair as well. Try tightlining with liver, worms, hot dogs, or cut bait, particularly along the creek channels or around cover. |
