Kick off 2023 by joining us at Mississippi State Parks for a national event known as First Day Hikes! Make plans to visit your favorite state park or a new park that you haven't visited before. We have trails that are fun for all skill levels and abilities. Find a trail by clicking here.  Entry fee is waived for this event.

While you can participate in First Day Hikes at any of our 21 Mississippi State Parks, only select parks will have refreshments and guided hikes available.

Roosevelt State Park - Refreshments at 9:00 a.m. at the ballfield with a self-guided hike to follow.

Clarkco State Park - The Friends of Clarkco will be hosting two guided hikes and park tours! Event goers have the opportunity to meet at 8:00 A.M. or 1:00 P.M. at the Lodge for refreshments. From there you can head out on a guided hike and tour of the park. Big thank you to the Friends of Clarkco for their help!

Clark Creek Natural Area - Refreshments at 9:00 a.m. at the Gatehouse with a self-guided hike to follow.

LeFleur's Bluff State Park - Guided hike at 9:00 a.m. with refreshments to follow.

Tishomingo State Park - While visitors are welcome to hike at any time that day, we will be meeting at the Nature Center at 2:00 P.M. for a guided hike with refreshments to follow. Big thank you to Friends of Tishomingo State Park for their help!
